The EPA publishes Ireland’s National Waste Prevention Programme (NWPP) 2019 Annual Report

The National Waste Prevention Programme (NWPP), led by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is a Government of Ireland initiative funded by the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment (DCCAE).

The NWPP 2019 annual report covers a period of intense change for Ireland as we move towards a low-carbon economy. The circular economy concept is gathering momentum, while consumers and businesses are engaging more than ever with the green agenda. The NWPP is responding to this increased interest through a range of major new initiatives including support for CIRCULÉIRE, the National Platform for Circular Manufacturing; enhanced activity on food waste prevention; and targeted innovation funding through the EPA’s Green Enterprise programme.

CIRCULÉIRE is the first Irish public-private partnership that aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of Irish industry through the implementation of circular manufacturing methodologies and business models which transform waste into a resource. Scaling circularity in Ireland represents a significant opportunity for businesses to decouple economic growth from resource use – enabling new job creation and job retention, increasing competitive advantage and resilience to external supply-chain shocks. CIRCULÉIRE are proud to be collaborating with the EPA to support the delivery of Ireland’s National Waste Prevention Programme and the Government of Ireland’s Climate Action plan.
